Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and guided by modern research, Acupuncture Works (Andrew Perzigian, MSTCM) makes integrative care practical and accessible. Our goal is to provide meaningful and measurable results: reduce symptoms, improve function, and help you feel and perform better—safely and effectively.
- Holistic Care: we consider how symptoms fit within the whole person—mind, body and spirit. We aim to relieve symptoms and address underlying contributors to disharmony.
- Honesty: we’ll be straightforward about what acupuncture may help, expected timeframes, and when a different approach might be a better fit.
- Personalised Care: we build a plan around your goals and life. No templates—clear, relevant steps you can follow.
- Lifestyle Medicine: practical advice on sleep, breath, light exposure, pacing and recovery—tools that fit real life and make a real difference.
- Collaboration: we partner with you and when needed, your GP or specialist; ACC accepted for covered injuries.
Your first visit (60 min)
A thorough consultation, pulse/tongue assessment when relevant and an acupuncture treatment that may include adjunct techniques (e.g., cupping, gentle electro-stimulation, infrared heat). We’ll set goals, immediate next steps, and advise about simple home strategies.
Your plan
- Course of care: typically weekly for 4–6 visits, then we reassess.
- Complex cases: start with 90 min if needed.
- Follow-ups: usually 60 min.
- Results vary — we adapt based on your response.

Full bio & training
I graduated from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) in San Francisco in 2011. Upon graduation, I opened a private practice, Wellness Workshop SF and after a couple years as a general practitioner, joined forces with Acupuncture Kitchen, what was then San Francisco’s preeminent fertility-based practice. During my first years as an acupuncturist, I honed my diagnostic skills by completing Jane Lyttleton’s comprehensive seminar on the Treatment of Infertility and a pulse taking apprenticeship under the auspices of Brian LaForgia, a specialist in the classical Shen-Hammer style of pulse taking. In 2013, I launched a full range Chinese and western herbal pharmacy, which supplied traditional raw herbal and tincture-based formulations for patients throughout the Bay Area.
After a year focusing increasingly on fertility, I began working as an in-house acupuncturist within two Bay Area western medical clinics, the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and Pacific Fertility. Around this time, I also began volunteering within the San Francisco jail system where I would provide the NADA (National Acupuncture Detox Association) ear acupuncture protocol for incarcerated veterans of the US military. To qualify for the program, veterans had to either have a prior history of drug addiction or PTSD, something for which the NADA protocol has proven hugely beneficial. In 2015, I began teaching a nutrition course at my alma mater, ACTCM. This was quite challenging and fun as it found me responsible for conveying to others what was the original inspiration for my interest in and study of Chinese medicine. In 2016, realising that my orthopaedic skill set needed honing, I completed a Sports Medicine Acupuncture Apprenticeship program under the guidance of Whitfield Reeves. During the 2020 COVID lockdown in May, I repeated an online version of the same apprenticeship.
Outside of the clinic, I practice meditation, yoga and breath work and enjoy plunging in cold water, cycling, veggie gardening and fun times outdoors with my partner and two young daughters.
